Father's Day, 2009

June 24th, 2009

Don's a happy puppy, now that the initial plumbing inspection is over. Here you will see that the hot and cold water have been installed, also the insullation for the foundation (pink stuff). You'll see me re-installing the insullation after the 50 MPH winds and 2 inches of rain, knocked it all about. Also pictured are our two granddaughters, Emma (just 12) and Megan (still 8) playing on the newly, baled hay during a Father's Day visit.

Walls and Plumbing

Don’s delighted to have me send this out to tell all interested parties that the strawbale house project has officially begun! (I’m not so sure how glad I am, yet…we’re hemorhaging $$$, and I’m afraid of bleeding out! No one can say WE aren’t helping the economy!) For your viewing pleasure, you will see the tentative schedule below. The good news is that there is now a rent-a-bathroom on the property for anyone who wishes to come for a visit and were afraid they were going to have to pee in a bucket! The bad news is the schedule below is already a day behind…oh well, Don can see holes where the footings go…so he’s a Hap, Hap, Happy Man!

Anyone seriously expecting a ‘wall raising party’ on the July 4th weekend can fahhh-get-about-it! We are going to try to get the builder to make some slight adjustments so that they get the roof on before the interior walls, so we can work on exterior walls at the same time…but that would put the wall raising, mid-July, at best!

We want to thank everyone who has shown the slightest bit of interest in this project…and apologize for being so self-involved for the past two years. We haven’t forgotten any of you…and I for one, appreciate your indulgence…

If you do not want to get updates about this farm project…I do not blame you…just let me know, and I will gladly take your name off the list.

If you want to visit, I believe there will be someone on or at the property from this day forward until winter…google 810 S. Meridian, Mason, Michigan for directions. If it’s VERY early in the morning, Don will be at the Wooden Nickel in Dansville having breakfast…he usually gets there before the cook does. If we’re not there, just look around (don’t fall in any holes!) someone will be back shortly. If you let us know you’re coming, we’ll have appropriate refreshments available.

Green and White Acres is the place for me. Farm livin' is the life for me. Land spreadin' out so far and wide. Keep Main Street, just give me that countryside.
